The homeschooling movement began growing in the year 1970sb when popular authors and researchers John Holt, Dorothy, and Raymond Moore started writing about education reform.
In history homeschooling was a common process by family member. In 19th and 20th centuries Homeschooling was declined due to compulsory school attendance law. In 1960 and 1970 homeschooling began a resurgence with educational reformist dissatisfied with formal education system.

Homeschooling in India:
According to childhood association of India’schairman Swati popat, homeschooling is the new trend in India and it increases over 5 years. As per the universal declaration of human rights to which India is a signatory quote “Parent have a prior right to choose the king of education that shall be given to their children”.

Advantages of Homeschooling:
Following are the advantages of homeschooling over traditional schooling1. There is plenty time for “premium” parenting.

- Flexible schedules make life easier for the whole family.
- There is no homework.
- They have more emotion freedom.
- Provides flexibility over teaching timing.
- Helps to build good relationship and bond with the children’s.
- Students may be more independents.
Disadvantages of Homeschooling:
Following are the disadvantages of homeschooling –
- Students may get frustrated as they can’t enjoy schools and make new friends.
- Sometimes students can go into depression as they have no or minimal interaction with outsiders other than home.
- If parents are not able to clear concepts of their child, then may lead to wrong direction.
- Practical subjects knowledge will not get in home as in subject like science need to conduct some experiments with the help of equipment which are not available in home.
- Considering today’s educational tend and tough concept it is somewhat critical for the parents to clear doubt and enrich their ward with plenty of knowledge.
